Representative Jamaal Bowman of New York stated at a health care summit that he is looking to next year and beyond the next presidential election to get a Congress that would take the steps needed to eliminate health disparities.
“We have to vote the right people into office, number one,” he said. “There are solutions right there on the table for us… I don’t see much of that happening now, but that’s why next year is going to be critical toward moving the ball forward.”
Congressman Bowman added, “We still have to make major investments and pass transformational legislation.” He identified mental and maternal health as key areas of focus, saying, “We have to talk about deconstructing a system built on racism and colonization.”
